MORE than 30 people can officially compete in Horsham’s world record Nutbush attempt in November.
Horsham Town Hall’s fundraising committee is hosting training lessons for people to get their ‘Nutbush card’, which allows them to be part of the committee’s Guinness World Record attempt for the largest number of simultaneous Nutbush dancers.
People have to dance the correct moves for the full Tina Turner hit – five minutes and 15 seconds – to get their card.
The committee hopes to have 400 dancers at the attempt on November 29.
Horsham Mayor Mark Radford said the group had hosted two Nutbush lessons on September 6 and September 20.
“Letters have been sent to all local dance schools and clubs inviting them to participate,” he said.
Cr Radford said one couple travelled from Ararat to participate in a lesson.
He said Horsham dance Instructor Lynne McKenzie led a warm-up before teaching the steps, then adding the music.
Cr Radford said the next training session was on October 5.
It will be at Horsham Aquatic Centre from 4pm to 5pm.
Cr Radford said entry to the Nutbush world record attempt was $15 a person, which included a t-shirt and souvenir band.
He said people could visit www.nutbushhorsham.com.au for more information about the event.
