2026 World Day of Prayer
The World Day of Prayer is in its 99th year, with observances from across the world, although Australia joined just over 70 years ago.

Each year on the first Friday of March, people have gathered to reflect on the culture, customs and needs of a particular country and pray for them all.
A service is organised by the focus country and where all are invited to join together.
Nigeria is the focus country for 2026.
The Hopetoun gathering is being hosted by St John’s Lutheran Church on Denny’s Street at 10am on Friday, March 6, this week.
All are welcome and encouraged to come and pray for the people of Nigeria.
After the service, those attending will join the students at St Joseph’s Catholic School for morning tea.
Put on by the students for International Women’s Day (March 8), it is a wonderful way to recognise both the World Day of Prayer with a focus on the needs of women, and International Women’s Day.
A $5.00 contribution towards the morning tea will be appreciated.
This wonderful initiative is another opportunity for the Christian Churches and Schools to work together to bless others.
