A new era under a familiar name

This is the beginning of a new era for The Horsham Times, representing a refreshed and stronger future for journalism in the Wimmera Mallee. This week's paper is a collectors edition as we will, from next week, publish under The Wimmera Mail-Times banner, now as part of Wimmera Mallee News.

Since its establishment in 1873, The Horsham Times has been more than just a newspaper—it has been a trusted voice, a record of history, and a reflection of the people and places that make this region unique.

In 1959, The Horsham Times merged with The West Wimmera Mail to form The Wimmera Mail-Times, uniting two proud legacies to continue delivering quality journalism. Through generations of change, The Wimmera Mail-Times has remained a steadfast source of news, keeping the community informed and connected.

Originally owned by the Ward family, The Horsham Times found new life in May 2020, revived in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. Published every Friday since, it has provided reliable information during uncertain times, proving that strong local journalism is as vital as ever.

While there is a change of title, the commitment to quality local news is far from over. Wimmera Mallee News will bring together the best of The Wimmera Mail-Times and The Horsham Times, creating a more efficient and comprehensive publication. From next week, The Mail-Times will be published twice weekly, with the Tuesday edition incorporating Wimmera Mallee Sport, ensuring that local news, sport, and community stories continue to have the coverage they deserve.

The close of this chapter—hails the beginning of something even stronger. Your 100% local paper. Owned Locally, Printed Locally, Trusted Locally.
