Board position available in grains industry
A local GrainGrowers board member who is retiring after nine years has encouraged other eligible people to consider representitive roles for the organisation's southern region.

Julia Hausler has reached the end of her rotation on the board but said the experience had given her the chance to make a difference in opportunities and results for members and to help shape the grain industry across Australia.
“As someone with an active interest in the industry, I have found the role rewarding, working co-operatively and carefully considering ways in which GrainGrowers can address the needs of growers," Mrs Hausler said.
“I have enjoyed future-thinking about the things that are important to our grain businesses and seeing programs that can make a real difference being developed and implemented, such as marketing workshops, carbon curious dinners or advocating for rural childcare or trade and market access.”
Mrs Hausler said it was exciting to see concepts such as the grain sustainability framework start in the board room and grow into fully fledged programs.
“The opportunity is there as a director to actively contribute to industry development – either directly through GrainGrowers projects and programs such as the National Grain Freight Strategy, or by working collaboratively with other organisations such as the Grains Research & Development Corporation and the National Farmers' Federation,” she said.
To be eligible for representitive roles in the future, candidates must be a member of GrainGrowers, be resident in or in the business of grain production in GrainGrowers' southern region (south of Dubbo in NSW, Victoria and Tasmania) and hold a strong commitment to the further development of Australia's grain industry.
The GrainGrowers board consists of six grower directors – two elected from each of the three regions: northern, southern and western – and two independent directors.
