Brownsea hits hole in one
Amanda Brownsea hit a rare hole-in-one at Horsham Golf Club while playing in the Trish Mills Memorial Blue Wren Trophy on Thursday October 30.

Having not had the best day on the course, Brownsea admitted that when she stepped up to the 11th hole, she was just hoping to hit the ball straight and get it on the green.
“I’d had a shocking day; it was terrible, honestly,” Brownsea said.
“I was standing up on a tee box just doing my practice swings and literally thinking, “Come on, Amanda, you've played a shocking round, just hit a decent straight one.”
“So I just swung out an eight iron and I just hit it, then it hit the green left of the hole and bounced right and rolled in.
“I didn't really squeal or yell or do anything, I just put the stick in the air and turned straight to the other girls.
“Then I just bent over in disbelief.”
A member of both Nhill and Horsham golf clubs, Brownsea has been playing consistently for five years and says the thought of getting a hole in one rarely enters her mind.
“It's just one of those things where you play golf and every time you go up to a par three, you don't actually ever think about having a hole in one,” Brownsea said.
“You just think about getting it on the green, so for it to go in, it's pretty cool.”
Making the feat even more impressive is that the 11th hole is one of the more challenging.
“I reckon that's the hardest par three, number 11,” Brownsea said.
“It's up on a rise and there are two bunkers on the left and two on the right, and if you hit it short it'll roll back down the hill, and if you hit it too long you've got to then chip back on the green because it's running downhill.
“You've got to really judge it carefully because it'll run back off the green on the other side.”
