Opened by Hindmarsh councillor Chan Ouy, he welcomed attendees and provided an overview of the theme and ways to keep the community safe, including personal responsibility.

Representatives from Allied Justice also spoke on their services and what they can offer to people experiencing violence.

After the opening, attendees participated in a fun run where they were fully splashed with colour, leaving the powder bottles empty by the end.

Following this, they enjoyed a BBQ provided by local volunteers from the Dimboola Progress Association.

Hindmarsh mayor Ron Ismay was pleased the runs in Dimboola and other locations in the shire had been well supported, especially from younger generations.

“Even those who were there to spectate did not remain uncoloured!” he said.

“These events, held each year, raise awareness of the terrible scourge that is gender-based violence and family violence.

“This violence comes in forms other than physical, but whatever way it may be inflicted, we as a community must endeavour to eradicate it wherever we can.

“Our Colour Run is just one of those avenues to raise awareness and bring the community together.”
