Comfortable wins on the table

Galaquil, Brim and Kellalac claimed wins at Warracknabeal Senior Table Tennis on Monday night.

Match one saw Kellalac win over Wallup in the closest match of the night 7 sets to 5, 25 games to 17, 400 points to 356.

Kellalac began well, taking three of the first four singles to give them a two set lead which they maintained for the rest of the match.

Kellalac’s Jason Robinson def Wallup’s Sandon Schultz 12-10, 11-7, 11-7, followed by Shane Wardle def of Brad Martin 11-8, 13-11, 11-6, and Merryn Baxter def of Eli Robinson 11-4, 11-5, 11-6.

Wallup’s Wendy Lehmann then put her team on the board with a win over Kellalac’s Craig Byron 11-7, 11-7, 11-9. Wallup won the first doubles when Sandon and Brad defeated Jason and Shane 12-10, 11-8, 11-8.

Kellalac retaliated taking the next doubles when Craig and Merryn def Wendy and Eli 8-11, 11-5, 11-6, 11-6. The reverse singles were won alternately with Sandon def Shane 9-11, 11-2, 12-10, 11-7, Jason victorious over Brad 7-11, 11-5, 11-8, 11-8. Wendy def Merryn 6-11, 11-3, 11-7, 11-4 and Craig against Eli 11-6, 11-4, 11-7.

Wallup won the next doubles when Sandon and Wendy def Jason and Craig 7-11, 12-10, 11-6, 9-11, 11-7. Kellalac sealed their victory taking the last two doubles sets Shane and Merryn against Brad and Eli 11-1, 13-11, 11-4.

Match two saw Brim ending up with a comfortable win over Bangerang 8 sets to 4, 27 games to 14, 399 points to 341.

Sets were won alternately in the first half of the match. Brim’s Owen Osborne won over Bangerang’s David Baxter 11-8, 11-2, 11-7, Bangerang’s John Woods def Brim’s Zeik Clark 9-11, 11-4, 11-4, 8-11, 11-6, Brim’s Richard Tickner def Bangerang’s Amy Holland 11-3, 8-11, 13-11, 11-3 and Bangerang’s Simon Leslie def Brim’s Keedie Wardle 11-3, 9-11, 11-7, 11-9.

Bangerang won the first doubles when David B and John def Owen and Zeik 11-8, 11-9, 11-5. Brim won the next doubles with Keedie and Richard def Simon and Amy 11-7, 12-10, 11-7.

Bangerang won the first reverse singles when David B def Zeik 11-7, 11-8, 11-8. Brim were relentless, winning all the remaining sets. Owen def John 11-9, 11-4, 11-5, Richard def Simon 11-6, 11-9, 11-9, Keedie def Amy 11-2, 11-6, 11-5 and in the doubles Owen and Keedie winners over David B and Simon 13-11, 11-4, 9-11, 11-6 and Zeik and Richard against John and Amy 13-11, 11-9, 11-7 to give them a four set victory.

Match three. Galaquil won over Boolite 8 sets to 4, 29 games to 19, 472 points to 419.

Again sets were won alternately in the first half of the match before Galaquil displayed their dominance taking all but one of the remaining sets.

Russell Schultz opened the account for Boolite def Galaquil’s Charlie Martin in a very close duel 9-11, 12-10, 11-8, 8-11, 11-6 before Galaquil’s Lindsay Martin won over Boolite’s Rob Lehmann 11-8, 11-9, 11-9 followed by Boolite sub David Ward def of Galaquil’s Graeme Koschitzke 12-10, 12-10, 11-7 and Galaquil’s Jagger Livingston victorious over Boolite’s Will Smith 11-9, 13-11, 8-11, 11-6.

Boolite took the first doubles when Russell and Rob def Charlie and Lindsay 9-11, 11-7 11-6, 11-7. Galaquil won the next doubles when Graeme and Jagger def David W and Will 7-11, 11-2, 8-11, 11-6, 11-4.

David W was the only winner for Boolite in the remainder of the match with a win over Jagger 10-12, 9-11, 12-10, 11-4, 11-5. Lindsay won for Galaquil def Russell 11-4, 12-10, 11-7, followed by Charlie def Rob 9-11, 11-8, 11-2, 11-5 , Graeme def Will 11-3, 11-8, 11-5 and the doubles where Charlie and Graeme won over Russell and David W 11-8, 6-11, 10-12, 12-10, 11-5 and Lindsay and Jagger winners over Rob and Will 11-7, 9-11, 12-10, 11-4, giving Galaquil the match be four sets.
