Crackdown on tyre dumping
Horsham Rural City Council is ramping up its efforts to tackle illegal tyre dumping after discovering more piles of discarded tyres on the outskirts of Horsham.

Council officers found a newly dumped pile of 30 tyres, believed to have been used for burnouts.
Council is investigating whether those involved in burnout are sourcing used tyres from local businesses.
Extra patrols and surveillance are targeting hotspot areas, particularly near Horsham North, to catch offenders in the act.
Anyone caught dumping tyres faces a fine of up to $5928.
Council is working with tyre businesses to prevent improper disposal and urges the public to report suspicious activity.
Dumped tyres release harmful chemicals into soil and water as they break down and pose a significant fire hazard.
To report illegal dumping, contact HRCC or call EPA Victoria on 1300 372 842.
