Daffodils for Cancer Council
Fundraising efforts carried on a long-standing tradition last week in the memory of a Rainbow local.

Caroline Cocks and Karen Barton set up in front of the town’s supermarket on Daffodil Day, Thursday, August 21, selling bunches of daffodils to raise money for the Cancer Council.
Ms Cocks said the effort carried on a tradition started by a late local.
“We had a lady in town, Leonie, and she used to do the Cancer Council day every year,” she said.
“She was diagnosed with lymphoma and ended up passing away a couple of years ago.
“So our breast cancer girls took it on, but now I’m the last one left in town.
Community support has remained strong throughout the day for the cause.
“The response has been pretty good,” she said.
“Last year, we got fresh daffodils and we sold out pretty quickly, so it’s usually good.
A generous local business from Horsham supplied the flowers.
“The Horsham Florist actually donates the daffodils, so we don’t have to pay for them at all,” she said.
Every bunch sold helps fund vital research and services.
“It all goes to Cancer Council, every cent,” she said.
“We don’t take any.”
