Defending champs look to amend rare loss

Harrow Balmoral will be aiming to put their first loss in over two years behind them when they meet Rupanyup this Saturday in round nine of the Horsham District Football Netball League.

The Kangaroos managed to prevail in a number of tight contests before losing to Noradjuha Quantong 87-52 in round eight.

Although the two-time defending premiers may appear vulnerable, particularly with several players out, including coach Jai Thompson, they would be hard to bet against in a home matchup.

Conversely, Rupanyup are hoping to come out firing after the break, but are managing injuries of their own.

“Most of us are back, fit and firing, but we've still got a couple of injuries,” Weston said.

“In saying that, there's a couple of young fellas that have been out for the season who will play their first game this week,” Weston said.

Despite Harrow’s recent loss, Weston is aware of the big challenge that Harrow presents.

“We know it's going to be tough,” Weston said.

“They're a quality team and that's been proven over the last three years.

“They do have a few players out, but we’ll give it our best shot.

The following Saturday, June 21, Rupanyup will be hosting their Ladies Day as part of their round ten weekend against Pimpinio, with the event raising funds for Breast Cancer Network Australia. More details can be found on Rupanyup Football Netball Club’s Facebook page.
