Flying Zulu, one of the top sprinters in Australia, started from box seven. He took off strongly but was pushed off the rail by Extradited, the reserve who started from box four.

Flying Zulu then dug deep, and got the line ahead of a fast-finishing Amron Tiger to claim victory by three-quarters of a length in a time of 26.93. Zipping Hopkins jumped from box three and got over the weakening Extradited to take third.

The $40,000 Group 2 win was a well-earned triumph, especially after the kennel was forced to scratch kennelmate Tim Zoo from the final due to a minor webbing injury.

Jason Thompson, one of the best trainers in the country, based in Pearcedale, said it was a beautiful win.

"He came out beautifully, but Extradited kept him off the fence for a while, and he needed to hold the full 485m to get the job done, but he put his head down when it mattered," Thompson said.

Flying Zulu’s Horsham Cup win adds another accolade to his impressive record, marking his 27th career win from 49 starts and pushing his career earnings beyond $910,000.

Warracknabeal-based trainer Ian Bibby tasted success in the last race, a 410m journey, with Orsan Fury saluting ahead of Circle the Space and kennelmate Crymelon Comet.
