‘For the First Time in Forever’: Horsham College presents Frozen
HORSHAM College’s cast and crew gathered for their first full dress rehearsal at the school, marking a major milestone in the lead-up to next month’s production of Disney’s Frozen.

More than 60 students are involved in the production, both on stage and behind the scenes, with Year 8 and Year 10 textiles students helping to create costumes, while stage crew and performers work together to bring the magical kingdom of Arendelle to life.
Imogen Dumnsey, who plays Sven the reindeer, said performing with a puppet had been one of the biggest challenges.
“It’s mostly challenging because I want to do the dancing, but I can’t because I’m in the puppet,” she said.
“I love Sven. He is so cool.”
Echoing Imogen’s experience, Clara Shirrefs, who plays the lovable snowman Olaf, said bringing the character to life had been a rewarding experience despite the physical restrictions of operating a puppet.
“Olaf is this magical creation who loves the idea of summer, and he is very curious,” she said.
“I probably really like doing his voice because he is really goofy and he gets to run around with his little toddler voice.”
She said one of the biggest challenges came during the energetic ensemble number Fixer Upper.
“Because of the restrictions I have with the puppet, Fixer Upper, which is one of the biggest ensemble numbers, is quite difficult moving around and dancing.”
Some students have taken on dual roles throughout the production. Issac Gregor plays the King before stepping behind the scenes as stage manager for the remainder of the show.
“I’m only in the first scene of the show, so it shouldn’t be too hard swapping from character to stage managing,” he said.
“I just call the shots for the rest of the show. Dress rehearsal is a little stressful, but it’s exciting to see it all come together.”
Sharing the stage as part of Arendelle’s royal family, Isabella Iuele plays the queen, the mother of young Elsa and Anna.
“It’s been a really fun experience. I think I’m really excited for the audience to see the whole thing, and it will be nice to finally get to the stage.”
Away from the spotlight, the stage crew plays an equally important role in bringing the production together.
Stage crew member Erica Johnson said managing the many props throughout the performance had been the biggest challenge so far.
“Moving all of the props everywhere has been the most challenging,” she said.
“I’m excited for the audience to see Let It Go because it’s an iconic song.”
Performances will be held at Horsham Town Hall Theatre on August 20, 21, and 22. Tickets are available to purchase through the Horsham Town Hall website.
As the countdown to opening night continues, Horsham College’s cast and crew hope audiences will enjoy the songs, spectacle, and months of hard work that have gone into bringing the magic of Frozen to life.
