Grading delayed by dry weather

Horsham Rural City Council has delayed the start of its annual rural road grading program due to ongoing dry conditions across the region.

The operations team says grading under dry conditions can cause significant gravel and stone loss, making the process ineffective.

Grading is typically most successful after the autumn break when light showers soften the road surface.

In the meantime, the Council is focusing efforts on its rural road resheeting program, which will add fresh layers of gravel to enhance road condition and durability.

Crews currently work in the Pimpinio area, targeting Pimpinio West Road, Buloke Lane, Reinheimers Road, and Remlaw Station Road.

Shoulder resheeting is also underway at Toolondo and Kalkee.

Council plans to begin full-scale grading operations when moisture levels are suitable.

Residents can report road issues by lodging an online request or contacting Council directly at 5382 9777.

HRCC also thanked the community for its patience and cooperation while crews continue maintaining rural roads.
