Hopetoun community gardeners outsmart fruit fly
Since the unwelcome arrival of the Queensland fruit fly to our lovely town, the Hopetoun Community Garden members have cut down several fruit trees.

This left some empty spaces in the garden, so the community garden members decided to plant some evergreen bushes instead.
Using the funds from a very generous donation from drumMUSTER and North West Ag, organised by Donna Scobie, the garden members have purchased five bushes and seven flowering plants, fertiliser and materials for a watering system.
Members send a huge Thank You to drumMUSTER, North West Ag and Donna.
The Hopetoun Community Garden Club has regular, very informal meetings on the first Tuesday of every month, usually at 1.30 pm.
New members are welcome, and the yearly membership fee is only $10 per person, payable in January.
This entitles the member to a garden bed for their use. However, gardening skills are not necessary.
Many members come just to socialise, have a chat, a cuppa, treats and share information.
The community garden is situated on the corner of Mitchell Place and Roberts Lane, just up from the Medical Clinic.
