The prestigious trophy was first presented back in the early 1900s and is contested annually between the Kaniva, Horsham, Natimuk, Warracknabeal and Stawell rifle clubs.

Teams consist of four shooters from each of the clubs and each team member fires 10 shots at 500 yards and 600 yards.

The trophy is awarded to the team with the highest points aggregate.

The Horsham A team ran out clear winners with a score of 384.27 out of a possible 400.40.

Second place went to Natimuk with 368.18, followed by Horsham B on 366.14, Stawell 361.20, Warracknabeal 360.14 and Kaniva 358.11.

This coming Saturday the Stawell Rifle Club will host its annual rifle shooting competition on the Stawell Range with shooters from across the state expected to attend.

The three-day shoot will compete at all ranges from 300 to 1000 yards.
