The funding aims to support the establishment and growth of community events that celebrate culture, heritage, and community wellbeing, boost our local economy, and increase visitation to the municipality.

Eligible groups can apply for funding of up to $7,500, made up of cash and in-kind support, as determined by the council for their event, if they meet the eligibility and selection criteria.

In previous years, the grant program provided funding for events such as the Wimmera Steampunk Festival, the Peter Taylor Memorial Barefoot Ski Event, Rainbow Big Sky Festival and the Nhill Airshow.

These events have drawn large crowds, increasing visitation and providing economic boosts to local businesses.

Applications close on Thursday, September 4.

Grant guidelines and the online application form can be found on Hindmarsh Shire Council's website via www.hindmarsh.vic.gov.au/apply-for-grants.
