Local shares passion for trash fashion
Dimboola's Friendship Group saw an increase in attendees on Thursday, May 1, for a special talk by local Mayhla Howells on trash fashion.

Almost 30 people showed interest in the topic with many new people attending the Friendship Group meeting.
"Normally we would have 20 people come, not many people come to Friendship Group," Ms Howells said.
After having a trash fashion exhibition in an empty shop during the Wimmera Steampunk Festival, Ms Howells said many people have gained interest in what she's been doing with trash fashion.
"I thought this was the ideal opportunity to introduce what I do and how I ended up in Dimboola," she said.
"I'm very big on recycling so I decided to see what I could do with it."
The passion dates back years when she was living in New Zealand and decided to go back to university where she completed a Maori basket weaving course.
From there she set herself a challenge, to make something out of plastic.
Ms Howells has received multiple awards and was invited to showcase her work in Nashville, USA.
She has been a guest artist in Holland and followed with a lecture and showing of her work during the Pacific Art Conference.
"I use recycled bits and pieces like espresso coffee cups," Ms Howells said.
Ms Howells said she will soon launch a new trash fashion collection called 'Colours of the Wimmera'.
