Natimuk Agricultural and Pastoral Society Inc (NAPSI) adopted the Natimuk Showgrounds Recreation Reserve concept master plan and presented it to the Horsham Rural City Council.

Natimuk Agricultural and Pastoral Society Inc (NAPSI), in partnership with the Natimuk Showgrounds committee of management, commissioned the comprehensive plan, which is described as the site's first formal and all-encompassing vision.

The document was developed with assistance from CT Management Group's Jarrod Bryant and shaped by a steering committee, local clubs and community groups.

Ground owner NAPSI adopted the master plan at a meeting and one of the committee members, Mikayla Mackely, presented the concept plan to Horsham Rural City Council.

Currently, nine user groups use the ground as their home.

Ms Mackley said the plan had plenty of proposed upgrades and the potential for future expansion.

"The master plan outlines a range of proposed upgrades to improve functionality, accessibility and enjoyment of Natimuk Showgrounds," she said.

"Key features include multipurpose and flexible-use spaces, improved storage, upgraded sporting and agricultural facilities, better drainage and roads, and more shade and seating.

"Future expansion opportunities have also been factored in."

In the short term, priorities include oval resurfacing, drainage upgrades and redevelopment of the shearing pavilion.

A new multipurpose facility encompassing netball, climbing, a community gym, a show office and amenities is also in the design pipeline.

"Emphasis has been placed on improving spaces used by multiple groups to maximise value and attract funding," Ms Mackley said.

The total estimated cost of all proposed works exceeds $5.5 million.

However, the plan is designed to be staged and flexible, allowing for improvements to occur as funding becomes available.

"The full cost will depend on funding and staged implementation," Ms Mackley said.

The need for the plan emerged from changing community needs, a decline in volunteer availability, aging infrastructure and evolving recreational trends.

"Although various planning-related meetings have been held for the showgrounds over the years, this is the first comprehensive and formal master plan of its kind," Ms Mackley said.

"This master plan ensures the site remains relevant, functional and well-used into the future."

The committee is exploring several local, state and federal funding options and said the plan positioned the site well to attract funding by demonstrating community support and multi-use potential.

The plan is expected to span a 10-plus-year timeline, with some smaller projects likely to begin soon.

Ms Mackley thanked the community for its input.

"Your input has shaped a shared vision for the future of this important community space," she said.

"We look forward to working together further to bring it to life."
