Graeme began his principalship at Hopetoun at the beginning of 2017 and has been a strong advocator for the school throughout his time.

The principal, who had been in the role for almost nine years, was surprised and somewhat overwhelmed to see the gathering of students, staff, parents, and carers who attended the surprise.

Parents' club treasurer Mel Seipolt shared a few words of gratitude before students presented him with cards made by each class.

Graeme acknowledged and thanked the school and local communities, as well as Simon Cook for his strong contribution towards school improvement throughout Graeme’s tenure.

Throughout his tenure as principal, Graeme has led teachers and support staff to numerous improvements in teaching and learning, and inspired students to strive for high achievement.

His fierce and ongoing campaigning for infrastructure upgrades resulted in the refurbishment of the school, with major improvements to the Science and Food Technology facilities.

His ongoing work with School Council couldn’t go unnoticed, with many improvements made to the grounds and buildings.

Throughout his time at Hopetoun P-12 College, Graeme provided stability and consistency after a period of constant change.

He prioritised school improvement, always striving to improve the educational experience of our local students.

His passion for high expectations was at the forefront of his work and this filtered into all aspects of the school community.

Graeme encouraged students to engage with leadership opportunities and provided them with various opportunities, from employment panels to membership on the School Council.

The Hopetoun P-12 College community thank Graeme for his many contributions, his leadership and lasting legacy, and would like to wish he and his wife Gayle all the best for their next set of adventures.
