Rees firing in croquet

April 29 was a perfect day for playing croquet with 11 enthusiastic players turning up for a fun day.

Two games were played before lunch followed by another game after lunch.

The highest scorers on the day were John Moar and Charles Rees with 21 followed by Judy Baker on 20.

Charles Rees played brilliantly, scoring 21 in two games.

The first and third weeks of the month are played using cards recording handicaps and free shots.

WCA play

In Wimmera Croquet Association play in Horsham on April 28, the Wimmera autumn competition resumed after the Easter break.

The day featured the first ever tied result with Pink and Green finishing on three games and 32 hoops each.

Charles Rees, playing for Greens, started the day well with two wins but ran out of steam in the last game.

Jan Post, playing for Pink, finished the day well with a solid win to produce the draw.

The Yellow team had a solid victory over Blue by five games to one.

Judy Baker for Yellow played in three close games, managing to win two.

The Red and White teams were locked at two games all at the lunch break but White came out firing in the afternoon session to finish up winning comfortably by four games to two.

Red’s John Moar won two games in the morning while Christine Hiscock, playing for White, had two convincing victories.
