Rematch awaits for Lakers, Panthers
Taylors Lake’s senior football side will aim to reverse the result of their previous matchup with Rupanyup as the two sides meet in round 16 this Saturday August 1.
Neither side will play finals football in 2026, but both teams will be playing for pride, particularly after a hotly contested round five clash.
No more than two goals separated the sides at each quarter break before the Panthers edged away in the final term to win 84-70.
Since then, Rupanyup has had the better results between the two sides, currently boasting a 4-10 record and are eighth on the ladder.
The Lakers have just the one win to their name, but a victory on Saturday gives them a chance to move from the bottom of the ladder.
And while both sides haven’t excelled as they would have liked in 2026, they boast game changers who were two of the best on ground in round five.
Rupanyup’s Daniel Weetra is one of the competition’s premier halfbacks and has been named in the side’s best in all nine games he has played.
Assistant coach and former league best and fairest Deek Roberts has shown he’s still one of the best players in the competition when available.
