Horsham results

Monday May 5 saw the completion of round 4 of the Wimmera autumn competition, with potential premiers narrowed down to two: White and Blue.

These two were drawn to play each other next in the final round.

Leanne Combrink, playing for Blue, had two good wins to help them to a narrow victory over John Moar’s Red team.

The White team, featuring Christine Hiscock, won by four games to two but with only a two-hoop lead, indicating a tight competition.

Judy Baker, playing for Yellow, won all three games against Pink.

This was not quite enough as Yellow lost the day by three hoops with Jean Bourke featuring in two good wins for Pink.

On Wednesday May 7, seven Dimboola players returned to the Horsham courts to compete in the Wimmera Pairs Championships, an event that had been postponed from the original February date due to excessive heat.

Charles Rees partnered Valmai Hood of Horsham to take out the division 3 championship and Judy Baker partnered Horsham’s Marg Pope to gain the division 2 title.

John Moar paired with Horsham’s semi-retired Lyn Creasey to gain a runners-up certificate in division 1.
