Wimmera district ARAP
Sunday morning, September 14, saw Wimmera District Youth members gather for ARAP - the annual Reports and Presentations at Warracknabeal.
Youth members started with a great race around Warracknabeal, and after lunch, we had the official proceedings.
These awards are given out every five years in recognition to Service to the movement.
Nicole Timms - 4th Horsham Scout Group - 10 Years
Leigh Cooksley - Western Region - 20 Years
Peter Pearce Gunner - 1st Rainbow Scout Group- 30 Years
Ann Pearce - 1st Warracknabeal Scout Group - 40 years
Janine Eagle - 4th Horsham Scout Group - 15 years
Linda Schulz - 4th Horsham Scout Group - 15 years
Daryl Clark - Cooinda Burrong Scout Camp and District Ex - 25 years
With these five leaders is over 100 combined years of Service to Scouting.
Many of these leaders have taken on extra roles.
The knowledge and experience of these leaders is amazing and we are lucky to have so many dedicated leaders in the district.
Daryl Clark will receive his 25 years’ Service as a non-uniform member at Cooinda Burrong next meeting.
Daryl started out as a parent committee member and has gone on to help out with roles in District Executive Committee and the Cooinda Burrong Campsite Committee.
There were also two youth acknowledged.
Jaiden Cooksley - 1st Warracknabeal Scout Group - Australian Scout Award
Lachlan North - 4th Horsham Scout Group - Australian Scout Award
These two youth members have earned their Australian Scout Medallion which is the top Peak Award to the Scout Youth section and features specific requirements completed by the individual scout.
This represents dedication and growth in a variety of skills across Outdoor Adventurer Skills and Special Interest Areas.
Thanks must also go to their group and families who have supported them on this journey.
It is a pleasure to hear through all the section reports on the amazing activities and events our youth get to do.
As a small district, we are well represented from International events to district events, giving our youth a variety of opportunities to participate and grow in their Scouting journey.
If you are interested in being involved as a youth member or adult, please reach out to your local Scout Group and see where your journey may take you.
