Wimmera Scouts celebrate founders day
Wimmera District Scouts marked Founders Day in style on Saturday, February 22, celebrating the legacy of Scouting’s founder Baden Powell.

Scouts and leaders from across the region, including Rainbow, Warracknabeal, Horsham and Ararat gathered for a day of fun, skill building and recognition at Warracknabeal Fauna Park.
The event highlighted the impact of Scouting, which has inspired a large number of young people for over 118 years.
While much has changed since Baden Powell took a group of boys to camp at Brownsea Island, the movement’s core values including resilience, life skills and leadership remain at the heart of Scouting today.
One of the key moments of the day was the recognition of two dedicated leaders, Fiona Holland from the Warracknabeal Scout Group and Andrew North from the Horsham Scout Group.
Both received their Woodbadge, signifying the completion of their training and their induction into the prestigious first Gilwell Group, a worldwide community of Woodbeaded Leaders.
Throughout the celebration, Scouts and leaders participated in hands-on activities, including chariot building and billy cart racing, fostering teamwork and friendly competition.
The day reinforced the importance of continuous learning, leadership and camaraderie within the Scouting movement.
With a strong and supportive community, Wimmera District Scouts continue to thrive, offering young people exciting opportunities for personal growth and adventure.
Those interested in joining the movement are encouraged to connect with their local Scout Group to experience the excitement of Scouting.
