The Man in the Corner, like everyone in the Wimmera and Mallee, is feeling the cold.

Double, triple, and quadruple layers were a common sight across the football field as players tried to muster up some motivation to play in single-digit temperatures.

In Minyip, where it was a chilly 8°C in the afternoon, with a 'feels like' reading of 1°C, some junior players jokingly fought over who would sit on the bench.

Extra thick blankets and jackets were waiting for those who sat on the pine.

Meanwhile, one enterprising under-11 player donned a parka under his jersey, not letting the apparent clash hamper him from taking the field.

The Man in the Corner wonders why he didn't think of it first.
