A NUMBER familiar names, such as Milton's Kelsey Bennett, and a trio of new faces have been selected to compete for NSW in this years' Australian Interstate Teams matches at Royal Hobart and Tasmania Golf Clubs in May. Joining the Mollymook Golf Club product will be joined in the women's team by Grace Kim, Doey Choi, Stephanie Kyriacou, Sophie Yip and Amy Chu, while the NSW male side consists of Blake Windred, Nathan Barbieri, Josh Armstrong, Jordie Garner, Harrison Crowe, Jye Pickin, Lucas Higgins and James Conran. New to the men's team this year is the impressive Jye Pickin, who captained the NSW boys team in 2017/18, and who also took out the 2018 NSW Junior Championship. Lucas Higgins, who represented Queensland in 2018, has returned to his home club of Murwillumbah in the state's north, is also a new face. Higgins impressed during the summer with a quarter-final appearance in the NSW amateur, where he lost to eventual winner, India's Kartik Sharma. James Conran, from Orange, will make his debut for the state after an impressive summer which saw him make the cut at the 2018 NSW Open as well as progress to the match play rounds of the NSW and Australian Amateur. James' father Steve also represented NSW before embarking on a successful professional career on the Japanese Tour. Conran senior and junior become the first father-son duo to represent New South Wales. Grace Kim, who was unable to represent NSW last year due to selection in the Australian Queen Sirikit Cup team, bolsters an already strong NSW women's team who will be out to defend the Gladys Hay Trophy which they won convincingly last year at Glenelg Golf Club. "Every golfer selected is an extremely talented player in their own right, and as a team, they are incredibly formidable squads," General Manager of Golf - Golf NSW Graeme Phillipson said. "They all wear their state colours with pride, and uphold the values of New South Wales and our wonderful sport as well." The 2019 Interstate Teams Matches will be played from May 7-10 at Tasmania Golf Club (men) and Royal Hobart Golf Club from May 7-9 (women).
