Mr Crewther was chosen at an administrative committee meeting on Friday night from a field of five candidates and will contest the federal election on September 14. Other candidates were Mallee branch chairman John Bade, Alexander Lew, Peter Bain and Robert Horwill.
Mr Crewther, 29, becomes the youngest candidate standing and the only Horsham resident.
He said he was honoured to be chosen to represent the Liberal Party in Mallee and was looking forward to the challenge ahead of him.
"Having grown up in the Mallee I understand the needs of the communities," he said.
"I want to be a strong voice that listens to the concerns of Mallee residents."
He was born in Horsham and attended schools in Horsham and Murtoa.
He studied law at the University of Canberra and Australian National University.
Party state director Damien Mantach said Mr Crewther was an outstanding candidate who would fight hard to win the seat.
"Chris has the right skills and experience to be an outstanding member of parliament for the Mallee region," he said.
Mr Mantach said all candidates had now been chosen in Victoria for the election.
"We are ready, organised and well-prepared to take up the fight to Labor and win back more seats in Victoria," he said.
"The Coalition will end the chaos and restore the strong, stable and accountable government that Australian's deserve."
