Liberal candidate Chris Crewther conceded defeat on Tuesday.
Mr Broad's win retains The Nationals' grasp on Mallee in the House of Representatives for the fourth consecutive time since the seat was created 64 years ago.
The result further cements the Mallee's reputation as the country's safest conservative seat.
It was the first time the Liberal Party had the opportunity to contest the seat in 20 years.
The party's decision to run a candidate against its Coalition partner, the Nationals, was a source of friction.
Retired Mallee member John Forrest, of the Nationals, won the seat from Liberal candidate Andrew Kidd by 0.5 per cent when he was elected in 1993.
