Horsham Agricultural Society will host a ‘100 Chicks Chase 100 Clicks’ event in March.
Project manager and agricultural society councillor Andrea Cross said 100 individuals, or teams of up to four women, would walk 100 kilometres from Halls Gap to Horsham between March 7 and 12.
She said the project aimed to raise $100,000.
The society has teamed with Horsham Commonwealth Bank for the event, along with Wimmera Design and Print and Herbal Life Nutrition.
Mrs Cross said the event would see women walk about 25 kilometres a day.
She said society councillors had offered walkers a campsite on their properties at Dadswells Bridge, St Helens Plains and Green Lake.
“It’s a perfect fit for our councillors to offer their farms as a safe place for the walkers to rest,” she said.
“Their properties are strategically aligned with the walking map, which is both convenient and coincidental.”
There will be a gala night for participants and their family and friends at Horsham Showground at the end of the event.
Mrs Cross said registration cost $100 and each participant must raise at least $1000.
She said money raised would support three charities and not-for-profit organisations.
Part of the money will go towards electrical upgrades at Horsham Showground and some will support a Horsham East Rotary Club project – a patient transfer station at Horsham Aerodrome.
A third beneficiary is the Women’s Cancer Foundation Ovarian Cancer Institute.
Mrs Cross said people could visit www.horshamshow.com.au for more information.
