About 70 students celebrated their primary school graduation with words of inspiration from community leaders, teachers and peers.
“We were challenged with the weather – it was hot, and there wasn’t much ventilation in the 298 campus gym,” principal Chris Walter said.
But the one and a half hour ceremony passed without incident.
Horsham Mayor David Grimble was among those to address the year level.
“The three school captains spoke about their experiences as Horsham Primary School students,” Mr Walter said.
The school also announced its captains for the next school year: Tate Fennell, Kaleisha McKerron and Bevan Brooke.
Each of the graduates was presented with a certificate.
Student leaders and sports stars received special mentions for their achievements.
Community groups including Horsham Rotary Club and parents’ committees from both of the school’s two campuses also presented awards.
Following performances from the school’s singing and signing choirs, the students left the building.
Mr Walter said it was important that milestones such as graduating from primary school were recognised.
“It’s a big moment in these children’s lives – the closing of one chapter and beginning of the next,” he said.
