HORSHAM Basketball Stadium will play host to this year's Country Basketball League South West conference grand final.
The Horsham Amateur Basketball Association won the rights to host the grand final after applying to the league earlier this season.
The grand final will be in Horsham on February 8 regardless of whether the Hornets qualify for it.
They are currently first on the ladder with two matches remaining in the season, putting them on track for a home semi-final.
The Hornets had a home semi-final last season but went down to the Corio Bay Stingrays.
Horsham Amateur Basketball Association president Dean Lakin said having the grand final in town was a great result, especially if the Hornets qualified.
"It would be great for Horsham basketball and the public to get behind them if they were, and at this stage there's no reason why they shouldn't be," he said.
"You'd certainly hope that even if Horsham wasn't playing in it there would be a lot of interest in it around town.
"If a team like Mount Gambier was in it you'd be hoping there'd be a few Mount Gambier people come down to watch it."
Lakin said the association applied for the right to host the grand final earlier in the season and was surprised when told its application was successful late last week.
"I applied thinking we would finish on top of the ladder and if some other team put in for it and we actually had the right to host it, that wouldn't be ideal," he said.
"I filled out the application form with information about people's roles on the night and whether we had the ability to provide scorers and if we had suitable change rooms and a grandstand.
"It was all fairly straightforward and then we got an email from the league saying we had got it."
Hornets playing coach Tim Pickert said the team was hopeful it could enjoy home court advantage throughout the finals.
"We've got to try and finish with a home semi-final and then hopefully a home grand final," he said.
"That would be a great result for us."
