More than 120 swimmers from the district’s six clubs competed, with the Sharks finishing runaway victors by more than 100 points, ahead of Stawell, Warracknabeal, Ararat, St Arnaud and Donald.
District 12 publicity officer Jenny Ough said the day ran smoothly, with a number of personal best times recorded.
“From the entry times given there were many swimmers achieving substantial PBs on the day,” she said.
“It is a great time in the season to be achieving PBs with the District Championships only three weeks away.”
Stawell’s Ben Hughes and St Arnaud’s Kelsey Hendy won the Inez Collum Perpetual Trophy in the 100-metre breaststroke event, with Horsham taking out the McKenzie Shield for the club with the highest aggregate points.
Ough said Ararat Swimming Club president Ainsley Cameron was pleased with the day, but hopeful of hosting its meet in Ararat next year.
“Ainsley was very happy with how the meet went – she thought that it was a fantastic day,” Ough said.
“They are planning to be able to host the meet next year back in their own pool in Ararat.
“They are excited about not having to travel to host their meet.”
The next meet will be hosted by St Arnaud on February 15 at the St Arnaud Swimming Pool.
Points: Horsham 658, Stawell 516, Warracknabeal 196, Ararat 176, St Arnaud 131, Donald 117.
