The man, 32, appeared in Nhill Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.
Horsham Detective Senior Constable Brad McKenzie said police attended a home in Forsyth Avenue, Horsham, about 11.50pm on Friday.
"An alcohol-affected male attended the premises, forced entry into the house and threatened to assault the people inside," he said.
"He has since been arrested and charged with aggravated burglary, along with a number of other offences, including assault."
The man did not apply for bail and will remain in custody pending further court appearances.
