Author Susie Sarah will launch her fifth children's book Jumping Jack Jones and a collection of short stories for adults, How To Wash Your Undies.
Ms Sarah lived at Halls Gap for more than 15 years before eventually moving to New South Wales.
She said she was excited about coming back to the Wimmera.
Ms Sarah collaborated with Halls Gap artist and illustrator Helen Leach on the books.
"Jumping Jack Jones is about a young boy who is sick and bed-bound," she said.
"This book follows the journey Jack takes from illness back to health.
"Jack loves his trampoline so he jumps from page to page landing in amazing locations and feeling much better as he progresses through the book.
"On one page he lands in the Grampians."
She said Jack became more colourful with every page.
"For Helen this was a lot of fun to draw a child in a room with no colour and then on the next page, he starts to become colourful," she said.
"She did a marvellous job of creating movement with his different sorts of jumps.
"I'm very happy with the book and it is a book for older readers as well, as it is very descriptive."
Ms Sarah said the stories in How To Wash Your Undies were all rural-based, with some set in the Grampians.
Ms Sarah will visit Laharum Primary School on March 27.
She will be at MOCO Gallery in Halls Gap on April 9 and 10, Redrock Books in Horsham on April 11 and The Gifted Wombat in Stawell on April 12.
While in Halls Gap, Ms Sarah and Ms Leach will also host workshops.
"Helen is hosting a pastels workshop that will teach people how to use pastels," Ms Sarah said.
"I will host a workshop for people thinking about writing a family history, or something for their family.
"The workshop will teach them how to pull it all together."
