Lisa was crowned the number one woman in the country after a superb display of shooting at the nationals, which finished on Sunday.
She was named captain of the Victorian team after dominating at the state titles in December and helped the Victorian women to a win on the first day of national competition.
The victory gave Victoria back-to-back women’s titles.
Hawker said it was a thrill to captain the team.
Individual shooting started on April 7, and both Hawkers were outstanding.
Lisa qualified for the women’s Mackintosh team shoot – which decides the overall nationals champion – as one of the top five female shooters.
She finished third, but blew away the competition in the final to connect with 297 of 300 targets and grab the number one rank.
Wayne was also impressive, winning the single barrel AA section and finishing second overall for single barrel.
He briefly held a national record after hitting 215 consecutive targets in the single barrel final, but the record was broken immediately by Darryn Nicholls’ 216 consecutive targets.
Wayne also made the Mackintosh team shoot as one of the top 25 men, finishing outside the top 10.
The pair shot as a husband-wife team in the Family Deauville Doubles, placing seventh.
“For a husband and wife to both make the top group of shooters is remarkable,” Lisa said.
“For Wayne to be shooting off with Darryn Nicholls and both of them to do a national record was incredible – they’re the only two people to shoot more than 200 at nationals in single barrel.”
Other Wimmera shooters at the nationals were Horsham’s Craig Kelly and Ararat junior Thomas Pilgrim.
