Jean, who turned professional in 2004, played in Europe for six years and also spent a year playing college golf in the US.
Originally from Kyabram, the Team Callaway playing ambassador has family ties to the Wimmera, with her grandparents originally from Murtoa.
They introduced her to the sport at a young age.
Jean has had stints at both Tocumwal and Wollongong golf clubs and is looking forward to her return to the Horsham course.
“I’ve played here before, but before the fires,” she said.
“The course is looking fantastic.”
Jean, who was also part of the Australian Institute of Sport for three years, said she hoped her experience would help golfers in the region.
“I’ve had golf experience right through from junior level, state level, Australian level, college to pro,” she said.
“I’m hoping to get some more junior golf going and get some more women into golf.
“Hopefully we can get more people interested in golf, get them to improve and to enjoy it.”
The 33-year-old said playing on fantastic courses in Scotland, Wales and Sweden were her travel highlights.
Jean will step into the shoes of Mark McIntyre, who spent 18 years at the club, and will join the club’s current golf professional Richard Alsop.
Alsop said it was exciting to have someone of Jean’s quality in the Wimmera.
“I think it will be good for the women in the district, and Lisa’s role will also be to get out to the other clubs in the district – not just in Horsham,” he said.
Alsop said district clubs and players could call the pro shop on 5382 3312 to organise clinics and lessons.
