The car was travelling along a dirt road off Nhill Road, Dimboola, when the car hit a tree about 6pm.
Dimboola Acting Sergeant Peter Mellington said the woman was trapped in the car.
He said State Emergency Service and Country Fire Authority crews worked to free her.
An ambulance took the woman and her daughter to Wimmera Base Hospital in Horsham.
Acting Sgt Mellington said the woman had injured her left knee but she and her daughter were otherwise unhurt.
He said police were investigating the incident but believed a medical condition could have caused the crash.
"Both occupants are extremely lucky,'' he said.
"It could have been much, much worse.''
