Schoo is a professional landscape photographer.
He said he entered the competition after encouragement from his wife.
“I had a look through my photos and tried to pick one that fitted in with the theme of Layers of Time,” he said.
“I tried to find a photo that depicted the Wimmera and specifically the layers of the landscape.”
Schoo will receive a stretched canvas of his photograph, ‘Recent rains fill Taylors Lake’.
Lachlan Story’s photo of ‘Wild Man Cave at Black Range’ and Ros Petering’s ‘Gulgurn Manja’ were both highly commended.
Mikayla Smith won the youth award with her photo of a rural landscape.
All entries can be viewed at the Art is... festival hub at 34 Roberts Avenue, Horsham, where people can also vote in the people’s choice award.
