THE district league's most western teams will meet tomorrow in a blockbuster at Harrow Recreation Reserve.
Harrow-Balmoral and Edenhope-Apsley face off with a spot in the top three on the line. The Roos sit third with six wins and two losses, with the Saints one win behind but holding a bigger percentage.
Edenhope-Apsley is coming off two tight losses to league powerhouses Laharum and Kalkee, while the Roos' 116-point win over Pimpinio broke a two-match losing streak.
With both teams in good form, Edenhope-Apsley president Wayne Caldow admitted it was hard to pick a winner in the annual West Wimmera Shield clash. "It's always a big game when we play Harrow-Balmoral, which is why it's on the Queen's Birthday long weekend each year," he said.
"In the years we've been competing against each other, this is probably the best position both teams have been in at the same time.
"We'll both go into the game thinking we've got a tough job ahead of us."
Harrow-Balmoral coach Brent Forsyth said it would be the Roos' most important match of the season so far.
"It's a season-defining game for us," he said.
"It's an eight-point game, because if we win we go ahead of them by eight points and stay in front of Kalkee, but if we lose we're back even with them."
Forsyth said he looked forward to taking on Saints coach Grant Coxon, who was an old mate of his from their days in the Western Border Football League.
