Sergeant Trevor Schmidt said police were investigating several burglaries from farming properties in the St Arnaud area.
He said thieves had targeted sheds on remote farming properties in each case.
St Arnaud police helped Maryborough Crime Investigation Unit in relation to two burglaries on farming properties in the Carapooee area.
Sgt Schmidt said two men had been remanded in custody for the crimes, including a St Arnaud man, 27.
“Police at St Arnaud are also making inquiries about further burglaries on farming properties in the Stuart Mill and Carapooee areas,” he said.
“We have also received reports of incidents in the Traynors Lagoon area, where unknown persons have been trespassing on farming properties and helping themselves to trailer-loads of wood.”
Sgt Schmidt suggested farming property owners lock their gates and install security systems.
He also encouraged people to keep a look-out for strange vehicles in their areas and to take note of registration numbers.
He asked people with relevant information to call St Arnaud police on 5495 1000 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
