Producer and college drama teacher Emily Friedrichsen said students had been working hard to put the finishing touches on the production.
“There’s a cross section of year sevens to year 12s involved in the cast,” she said.
“We’ve also included students much more in producing sets and costumes this year.”
Mrs Friedrichsen said the musical had incorporated teachers and students across a range of subject areas.
Teacher Leon Barents and the students in the hands-on learning program have worked on the sets.
“They’ve really made it come to life – part of it is suspended from the ceiling,” Mrs Friedrichsen said.
Year 11 textiles teacher and costume designer Tina Fitzgerald has incorporated the costumes as part of the students’ assessment.
Larissa Riddell is directing the musical and Brandi Galpin is the vocal director.
Mrs Friedrichsen said the much-loved children’s classic had transferred well to musical theatre.
“We go through her dream world and her wonderland with the very colourful characters that she meets along the way,” she said.
Year eight student Chloe Payne said the hard work students had put in was worth it.
Mrs Friedrichsen encouraged people from across the Wimmera to support the musical.
“It’s brilliant, it’s bright, it’s colourful, it’s fun and a lot of people know the story,” she said.
“We’re a small town community, so most people will know somebody on stage.”
Opening night of Horsham College’s Alice In Wonderland will be on Thursday at Wesley Performing Arts Centre from 7.30pm.
It will also be performed next Friday and Saturday at 7.30pm.
