Organiser Debbie Simpson presented Horsham West Primary School and Horsham College with certificates of appreciation on Tuesday.
The primary school raised $562 with a fluoro and footy-themed free dress day at the end of term two.
Mrs Simpson said Horsham College raised $467 with their football fluoro colours day.
She said it was the first time schools were invited to contribute to the Foundation Fluoro Football Fundraising Fortnight. “Last year it only included football clubs,” she said.
Schools including Horsham’s Holy Trinity Lutheran School, Horsham Primary School, Laharum Primary School, Ss Michael and John’s Primary School, St Brigid’s College, Dimboola Memorial Secondary College and St Peter’s Lutheran School in Dimboola also took up the challenge.
The school fundraising tally so far exceeds $2000.
Two schools are yet to host their events.
Mrs Simpson said the schools made invaluable contributions to the cause and thanked them for their help.
Horsham McDonald’s also jumped on board, decorating the restaurant and staff uniforms with fluorescent highlights.
Mrs Simpson said McDonald’s had raised $100. She said the football clubs’ fundraising efforts were ongoing.
“More than $700 was raised at an auction at Laharum on Saturday night,” she said.
Mrs Simpson said Horsham Football and Netball Club suffered a setback.
“Horsham got broken into about a month ago,” she said.
“Their tins were stolen – they were half-full.”
The inaugural Foundation Fluoro Football Fundraising Fortnight last year raised almost $4000.
