Acting Prime Minister Warren Truss and Deputy Premier Peter Ryan will announce the joint federal and state government funding at the college on Friday morning.
Member for Mallee Andrew Broad, Member for Lowan Hugh Delahunty and Nationals candidate for Lowan Emma Kealy will be at the announcement.
A State Government spokesman said the investment would complete the $4.5 million redevelopment of Longerenong College's student accommodation.
"This $2 million investment follows an earlier commitment of $1.1 million from the State Government's $1 billion Regional Growth Fund," he said.
"Longerenong College will provide the remaining $1.4 million needed to complete the project."
More than 100 single-student rooms will be refurbished, along with six single-occupancy disabled access student rooms and shared residential rooms including bathrooms, kitchenettes, kitchens, lounge rooms, laundries, pathways and stairwells.
The money will pay for the construction of a new three-storey building adjoining the accommodation. The new building will house two communal study areas and a recreational area.
The refurbishment includes a new reverse-cycle air-conditioning system, electronic access, upgrades to the wireless internet infrastructure and a new hot water service.
The spokesman said student enrolments at Longerenong College were at an all-time high, but the student accommodation - some of which is 70 years old - had fallen into disrepair.
"Occupancy rates on-campus are at only 50 per cent," he said.
"With rental accommodation in Horsham at a premium it was vital this development was undertaken to ensure the ongoing viability of the college and to support the 300 students."
He said the majority of students came from areas more than 100 kilometres from Longerenong.
