A Horsham man was airlifted to Melbourne after plunging more than 10 metres down an embankment on a motorcycle in the Grampians on Saturday.
Horsham Sergeant Julie Bergen said the man, 45, was travelling between Halls Gap and Horsham on Mt Victory Road about noon when he lost control of his motorbike on a damp section of road.
She said the man and the motorbike then fell more than 10 metres down an embankment.
Sgt Bergen said it took State Emergency Service crews several hours to rescue the man from the heavy bushland.
He was taken by ambulance to Halls Gap where he was then airlifted to Melbourne for back and ankle injuries and abdominal pain.
Sgt Bergen said there was no indication the man was speeding.
Meanwhile, a Geelong teenager also fell more than 10 metres while climbing at Mt Arapiles on Saturday.
The male, 17, was climbing and rappelling at Dunes Buttress when his rope pulled free of its anchor point about 5pm.
Sgt Bergen said the teenager fell six metres on a sloping rock surface and then rolled down another five metres.
She said State Emergency Service crews treated the teenager before he was flown to The Alfred hospital in Melbourne in a serious but stable condition.
Sgt Bergen said the equipment was inspected at the scene but no faults were found.
