Tepper is the International Table Tennis Federation deputy chief executive.
He said it was fantastic Horsham would be involved in the inaugural event.
‘‘It gives me great pleasure to note that Horsham will be part of the first World Table Tennis Day, being the place where I personally spent a lot of years learning the sport,’’ he said.
‘‘The day is not aimed at China and Germany, who dominate world table tennis, but at everyone, everywhere that enjoys table tennis.’’
Horsham will mark the day on April 7, rather than its official day of April 6, due to Easter.
Horsham Table Tennis Association president Jeff Pekin said a table would be set up in Roberts Avenue and people could have a go between 9am and 1pm.
Tepper said he was also pleased to hear renewed interest in table tennis in the city meant a new stadium might be on the way.
‘‘I note with great pleasure that the Maydale Pavilion might soon be replaced by a state of the art new venue,’’ he said.
‘‘When I was a junior table tennis player we thought we would be part of the new basketball stadium but that didn’t happen and we have been waiting ever since.’’
Tepper has long campaigned for a new stadium to be built, so table tennis does not have to be played in the Maydale Pavilion, where it has been played for a number of years.
