Eighteen brigade members received the National Emergency Medal at a ceremony at Olde Horsham on Saturday night.
Four members received the National Medal, while a further eight were recognised for long service from 10 years to 45 years.
Country Fire Authority acting assistant chief officer Philip Beasley made the presentations.
Horsham brigade captain John St Clair said it was the brigade’s busiest awards night in about 20 years.
“The National Emergency Medal was declared by the Queen for the Black Saturday fires here and the floods in Queensland around the same time,” he said.
“The medals are given to people who served their community during the events.
“The National Medal is for 20 years of diligent service to the CFA, which is above and beyond what people are required to do.”
Mr St Clair said the presentation night started with a formal dinner.
“Phil then spoke about the CFA and where it stands at the moment, and plans for the future,” he said.
“We also had Trevor Roche, who many years ago was the acting operations officer for CFA District 17.
“He spoke about the Horsham brigade’s history.
“He retired from the CFA about 15 years ago.”
