Excitement peaked at Tuesday night’s after-school junior competition, with youngsters the first of all players to use the club’s newly-opened glass courts.
Horsham Squash Club development officer Launa Schilling said the youngsters were excited to play on the new courts.
“We got our number ones to play on them and they were quite stoked,” she said.
“And we used them this week for the first round of our pennant.”
The club’s pennant runs on Wednesday night’s with 48 players signed up for the competition.
“We’ve increased our numbers. We’ve got 17 new players which is a fantastic effort,” Ms Schilling said.
Tuesday night’s junior program runs with a fun session, before a skills session and then competition matches.
Ms Schilling said there were a number of impressive junior players who were now progressing to pennant squash.
“There are three players who are currently playing juniors who we’ve put up to seniors,” she said.
“It’s a good way to transition them.”
The club is also looking for volunteers to help coach.
“We’re always encouraging young people to take on those leadership roles,” Ms Schilling said.
