STAWELL defeated Horsham 29-27 in the Wimmera Netball Association’s C Grade grand final on Saturday.
The Demons started the game in better form, shooting to a 9-6 lead at the first break.
They were moving the ball well and hitting their passes which allowed them to find their shooters under the ring.
But the Warriors didn’t drop their heads and continued to fight back, keeping in touch with the Demons for the first half.
Eventually they overhauled the lead and put themselves back in front in the last term.
Late in the game the two sides were unable to find easy scoring chances.
Two goals on the run at the end of the game saw the Warriors grab a two point lead.
Again scoring became hard as both defences made sure there were no more shots at goal from their opposition shooters.
Horsham’s Jenna Eastick was awarded the best on court medal, showing how close the two teams were.
The Warriors finished the game with their noses just in front in a thrilling victory.
