The competition saw grade 5/6 boys and girls compete at Alexandra Oval and Richardson Oval respectively.
In the boys’ final it was St Mary’s (#1) 205 defeating Willaura Primary School 92 while Ararat West Primary (#1) girls’ made 125 runs, defeating Ararat 800 PS (#1) 109.
Milo T20 Blast is a modified version of cricket with participation and fun the focus for both boys and girls teams Free hits, extra runs for scoring in the double zone, bonus points for wickets gained are all rules for the modified game, which sees accurate bowling, 6’s and 12’s hit, as well as plenty of ‘classic catches’.
Seventeen schools entered in the Ararat MILO T20 Blast School Cup Carnival, including Ararat 800 Primary School, Ararat West PS, St Mary’s School, Ararat North PS and Willaura PS. Over 150 students participated at the grade 5/6 carnival.
The winners of the carnival in each of the boys and girls competitions have progressed through to the region finals in Ballarat, to be held on Wednesday, November 25. That involves winners from Ballarat, Ararat, Castlemaine, Gisborne, Geelong, Colac, Maryborough and Stawell regional carnivals. For those who get through, the next step is the state finals, which will be held at the MCG on December 3.
