The inaugural Ramp It Rage It Stage It Yarriambiack FReeZA event saw BMX, scooter and skateboard riders go head to head at Warracknabeal skate park.
Horsham’s Dylan Bates carved out two terrific runs to win the 14 and under competition. Warracknabeal’s Nathan Martin finished third. The 15 and over event saw some extreme scoot skills on display, the highlight of which was a back flip by Jeremy Rogers. He stuck the landing to clinch the title.
The 15 and over BMX event was taken out by Adam McCombe.
The open men’s skateboard division was hotly contested, with Melbourne entrants keen to take home first prize, but it was Horsham entrant Billy Williams who landed his tricks to thrill the crowd.
Yarriambiack Shire Council’s youth engagement officer Murray McKenzie said it was a fantastic day.
“We’re hoping it will become an annual event.”
